Description
Original painting: Watercolor on paper, 15 × 22 in
Between the Thickets is a panoramic meditation on contrast—between light and shadow, warmth and cool, enclosure and openness. Charles Cherry leads the eye from richly textured foreground brush, ablaze in siennas and deep rusts, into a misty blue void flanked by dark wooded silhouettes. The scene feels both intimate and expansive: the grasses and tangled growth are rendered in tactile detail, while the trees dissolve gently into a veil of morning haze. This composition, spanning the full width of a half-sheet, invites quiet reflection—offering a place to pause between seasons, spaces, and states of mind.
