Original painting: Watercolor on paper, 11 × 15 in
The white spires of a monastery rise from a dense canopy of foliage in Homalin Monastery, glowing softly against layers of deep green. Charles Cherry builds the surrounding trees with dappled, sunlit washes of lemon yellow and lime, broken by small bursts of rose and red blossoms in the foreground. The cool, pale stonework sits quietly at the heart of all that color, giving the scene a feeling of calm and seclusion — a place of stillness hidden within a living, sunlit garden.
